Yellow Balloon Fair 2013

Save the Date! The YBF returns Saturday May 3, 2014.

When: Saturday April 27, 2013. 11 am to 3:00 pm
Where: RCNS, 100 Welsh Park Drive, Rockville, MD

Family-friendly fun in a beautiful setting!

Now in its 34th year, our Yellow Balloon Fair is Rockville’s premier fair for preschoolers, and fun for the whole family. Co-sponsored by the City of Rockville Recreation and Parks Department, the fair features pony rides, little-kid-friendly games, a bake sale, a used book sale, a moon bounce and much, much more. Come rain or shine!

Admission, pony watching, swinging on our swings, playing on the playground and generally hanging out with us are free! For food, tickets [for games, pony rides and the moon bounce], books and the bake sale you will need cash. The auction (see below) prefers cash or checks, but can also happily accept paypal or credit cards.

Previously-Loved Book Sale

Our book sale looks great! We can still take donation between now and the fair, to the school office during school hours. Thank you for supporting our school and the Yellow Balloon Fair!

Silent Auction

In conjunction with our fair, we offer a wonderful Silent Auction. Businesses and families from throughout our community donate fantastic items to bid on, and all funds raised from the auction go toward much-needed items for our school.

2013 highlights include: Polo and horseback riding lessons; swim, ski, dance or snowboarding lessons; two club-level passes to the AT&T National; use of a beautiful beach house in Rehoboth the week of June 23; Four 1-day Park Hopper passes to Walt Disney World; a year of bagels from Panera Bread or milk and cheese from Organic Valley; an autographed Smitten Kitchen cookbook; many wine-lovers’ getaway experiences; sports memorabilia; restaurant and bakery donations, and much more.

Community Reunion and Auction Preview Party: Friday April 26 7:30-9:30 pm

Alumni: You are invited to be our guests. Gather up the RCNS friends you haven’t seen in so long, and come have a drink with your old buddies and a walk down memory lane at our wonderful little preschool.

Current Families: Let’s celebrate all the work we’ve done to put together the auction and the YBF this year. We have an amazing community and… we’re throwing a grown-up party! [Sign up to bring food, drink or great stories on our evite.]

NOTE: This event is not open to the general public, but guests of RCNS alumni and coop members are welcome.

Silent Auction should be ready for bidding by Friday night. You can help us kick of the bidding, and get our event off to a great start. Though we want to be sure you don’t miss a chance at your favorite items– you should leave those checkbooks at home on Friday. We’ll contact you if you have the winning bid at auction closing time on Saturday.

100% of your purchase* supports our parent-cooperative nursery school! Huge thanks to the many generous businesses and families who donated these items to support our event and make your shopping fun.
*100% goes to RCNS if you pay by check; 97% RCNS/ 3% to the credit card company if you pay by electronic means. We prefer checks!

Do you remember your bid number? You can find a list here of what you won. Cross-reference it with the catalog. We had hoped to send personalized emails to all bidders; at this time we are unable to send those en masse, but we can look up your information for you individually if you need help with the posted list. Just stop by the office during the hours below or email ybfsilentauction@gmail.com.

Next: Total your items. Add MD sales tax (6%) – PayPal will calculate for you. Then bring a check payable to “RCNS” to the school office, or use the secure PayPal button below to pay for your auction item(s) and bring us the receipt.

  • Tuesday 10-12 (note the change: our volunteer is not available Tuesday afternoon)
  • Wednesday 9:45-12
  • Thursday 11:45-12:15
